Dr. Douglas R. Fabiani


Dr. Douglas R. Fabiani is from Clearwater, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition. He was accepted early into dental school. After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from The University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2000, he was accepted into a General Practice Residency program at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. In 2001, after completing his residency, he and Dr. Karp began their practice in Sarasota. He has completed well over 1000 hours of continuing education and has received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. The Fellowship award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession He is an active member of the American Dental Association, West Coast Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Sarasota County Dental Association and International College of Oral Implantology. He is also a graduate of the Misch International Implant Institute.

He served 4 years for the Sarasota County Dental Association and was President. Currently he is involved with the West coast District Dental Association as an Alternate Delegate to the Florida Dental Association. He also serves on the Academy of Alumni and Friends Board with the UF College of Dentistry.

Continuing education is very important in keeping up with the latest techniques and advances in order to provide the best possible dental care available anywhere. He has attended many conferences and conventions locally and internationally on topics such as implantology, esthetic dentistry, pediactric care, geriatric dental care, restorative materials, and prosthodontic treatment.

Dr. Fabiani’s hobbies include many outdoor sports such as spearfishing, scuba diving, tennis, crossfit and reading. He and his wife Dana live here in Sarasota.


Lance A. Karp, DMD, FAGD


Dr. Lance A. Karp is a leader in the dental profession. Originally from New York City, he moved to Florida while in grade school with his parents and brother. As a child he always knew that he wanted to help people and enhance their health. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. After dental school he successfully completed a residency program in Advanced Dentistry at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. While at UF, he was tapped into Florida Blue Key and inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame.

Committed to providing excellence in dentistry, he and his best friend Dr. Douglas Fabiani founded the Sarasota Dental Group in 2001. They use state of the art dental technology and their advanced education to provide the highest quality treatment in a caring and compassionate manor. Dr. Karp often says that he would not provide a dental procedure to one of his patients that he would not want in his own mouth; and he believes strongly in keeping up to date with the most current knowledge in the field of dentistry. He has distinguishing himself professionally by successfully completing thousands of hours of quality continuing education which allows for a better patient experience.

He continues to fine tune his dental education in the areas of cosmetic, restorative, occlusion, pediatrics, geriatrics, and implants through completion of numerous continuing education courses. He has successfully completed curriculums with the Seattle Study Club, Misch Implant Institute, and Dawson Academy. Dr. Karp has been awarded Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, International Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the American College of Dentists. These are the highest credentials awarded in our profession, an accomplishment that only a small percentage of dentists achieve.

Outside the office, Dr. Karp dedicates time to his community, profession, and advanced education. He serves as President Elect for the West Coast Dental Association, a component of the American Dental Association. He served on the executive board of the Sarasota County Dental Association for five years culminating with a term as President. He also serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Sarasota County Sheriffs Activities League which is a local non profit working to help at risk youth locally. He is a Trustee at New College of Florida, a member of the University of Florida National Alumni Association Board of Directors, Sarasota Gator Club Regional Director, UF College of Dentistry Strategic Planning Committee, and the Manatee Technical College Dental Assisting Program.

Dr. Karp, and his wife Lisa live locally and enjoy raising their two young daughters here in our wonderful community. During spare time he enjoys volunteering in their classrooms and their other extracurricular activities. He also enjoys tennis, attending Gator events, and traveling to exotic places as a family.
