 Air Abrasion
Air abrasion is a method of decay removal that functions much like a sandblasting technique. An air abrasion hand piece blows a powerful air stream of tiny, fine aluminum oxide particles out of its tip across the decayed area of the tooth. Because air abrasion cuts tooth surfaces with the utmost precision, it removes less tooth than a drill and treatment time is usually shorter. Very often this can be accomplished without anesthetic.
